Who We Help
Different responsibilities bring different fire safety challenges. Tell us what you are responsible for and what has prompted the enquiry, and we will help you find the right route.
Use this page to find the support that best matches your role or sector. If nothing fits neatly, tell us what is happening and we will help you work it out.
Start with your role
Choose the description that comes closest to your situation. These routes are designed around the people ESI commonly supports, not around internal service categories.
Technical fire safety support that works alongside the wider project, whether you are designing, refurbishing, acquiring or managing property.
Fire safety for property professionalsPractical help understanding what needs attention, managing fire risk and keeping the properties or premises you are responsible for moving in the right direction.
Discuss your buildingA dedicated route for short-term and guest accommodation where fire safety duties need to be understood in the context of how the property is actually used.
Fire risk assessments for holiday accommodationProportionate advice that recognises the practical and architectural constraints of older, listed and sensitive buildings rather than forcing a standard solution onto them.
Discuss a historic buildingStraightforward advice where budgets, shared responsibilities, volunteers and changing patterns of building use can make fire safety harder to manage.
Talk through your responsibilitiesSupport where processes, plant, flammable materials or combustible dusts mean the fire safety picture may need more specialist consideration.

The groups here are examples, not limits. Tell us what kind of building or organisation you are responsible for and what has prompted the enquiry.
Why your role matters
Good fire safety advice is not just about identifying the building type. It also depends on what you are responsible for, what decision you need to make and what stage the building or project is at.
That is why ESI does not expect you to diagnose the service yourself before getting in touch.
Specialist routes
Some fire safety enquiries are easier to navigate when the advice is built around your role, property type or working environment. These specialist routes bring together the most relevant information for three situations where the context can make a real difference.
PROPERTY PROFESSIONALS
For architects, surveyors, property managers and project teams who need specialist fire safety input that fits alongside the wider design, refurbishment, acquisition or property-management process.
Holiday accommodation
For owners and operators who need a fire risk assessment that reflects how guests use the property, how the accommodation is managed and the practical realities of the building.
CAR BODY REPAIR
For businesses working with spray booths, paints, solvents and related processes where dangerous substances create a more specialist risk picture that needs to be considered in the context of how the site actually operates.
Common reasons clients call
These are typical situations that can trigger a conversation with ESI. The right service can then be worked out from the context.
You need fire safety input before design decisions, approvals or works progress too far.
You need to understand the existing fire safety position, responsibilities and priorities.
The document may be old, incomplete, inconsistent with the building or no longer useful for the decision in front of you.
You need independent inspection, clearer evidence or a better understanding of what should happen next.
You are unsure whether DSEAR applies or whether the existing assessment still reflects the way the site operates.
Tell us what has prompted the enquiry. You do not need the technical terminology before you contact us.
How ESI works with you
The first conversation is about understanding what you are responsible for and what you are trying to achieve. The service comes after that.
01
Give us the building or project type, your role, what has happened and any timescale you are working to.
02
We review what you have told us, ask anything else needed and explain which type of support is likely to be appropriate.
03
Whether the answer is an assessment, strategy, survey, servicing requirement or consultancy input, the next step is explained in plain English.
Founder & Principal Consultant
Why ESI
ESI is a small, specialist, consultancy led team overseen by Jamie Morgan. The aim is to understand the building properly, explain the findings clearly and keep recommendations proportionate to what is genuinely required.
That approach is particularly useful on a page like this because the people coming to ESI are not all asking the same question. A project team may need design input, a managing agent may need help prioritising existing risks, and a specialist business may need a more technical assessment of its processes.
